I'm thinking about buying 8-10 chairs for a dining room. I found an excellent chair for an excellent price from a vendor at Ali Baba.com. I understand that I'll have to ship it from China (which I have no idea how to do.) Has anyone successfully purchased larger items from one of the vendors? How difficult is it to arrange shipping to the USA? Were you satisfied with the product? Thanks! |

I would never buy furniture without trying it out first. What if the chairs are ungodly uncomfortable? |

I have purchased from Alibaba many times. What I receive is what I ask for and so far the quality is good. To me it seems they are selling any and everything available from China. And yes, even though Chinese made items are not always top quality, these seem to be OEM parts and items and not knockoffs thereof. My biggest problem with them is that they don't understand "stop spamming me." They are worse than casinos. |

They seem to have everything, unique products and just what I am looking for but I have never used them. I have always wondered about them too. |

Alibaba is essentially the Amazon dot com of the East, except you often times have to buy in bulk, and like Amazon products often times ship from the particular business and not their own warehouse. They do have a U.S. division and products bought from U.S. companies are shipped from within the U.S. I have not purchased any large items from them but they can ship anywhere as far as I know. However, shipping 8-10 chairs from China is not going to be cheap. Shipping costs might be more expensive than the actual price of the chairs. |

I'm glad someone asked this question. I've always been afraid to buy from there. Since I want very unique items that can't be easily found here, that site always comes up in my searches. Maybe I'll dare to give it a try someday. |

I've felt the same way, it seemed like one of those trick generic sites. Good to know it's actually usable, there habe been things, I've wanted from there. |

@ Home, formerly Garden Ridge may be an alternate choice if you have one in your area. Sells a lot of Chinese made furniture and home goods. |
